The Filtered Truth: Fake Before & Afters Are Breaking Our Industry

By Renae, Founder of Glo Younger

Let’s cut the fluff. The beauty industry doesn’t need more illusion. It needs truth.

We’re living in a time where anyone with the right tools can create “flawless” before-and-after images. AI-generated models. Filtered perfection. Skin so smooth it doesn’t even look like skin anymore. And the worst part? Most people can’t tell what’s real.

Smoke, Mirrors and Pixels

I recently ran an experiment out of pure curiosity. I asked AI to generate a 12-month skin journey.

The result? Frighteningly realistic.

Pores? Gone.

Texture? Non-existent.

Skin “transformed” with zero effort, no products and not a single treatment.

It was completely fake. But it looked legit. And this kind of content is everywhere. On your feed, in ads, on influencer pages and even on skincare websites.

Why It Matters

You might be thinking, “So what?”

Here’s what. Unrealistic expectations cause real damage.

When we flood social media with polished, poreless perfection we chip away at confidence. We make women question their skin, their progress and even their worth. And we cheapen the science-backed, results-driven work that real professionals like me pour into real skin journeys.

It’s not just misleading. It’s unethical.

Real Results Take Time

At Glo Younger, I work with skin every single day. And I’ll tell you right now, there is no magic fix.

Skin is a journey. It takes time, consistency and compassion.

Our treatments - like microcurrent, biomimetic peels, Jet Plasma and bio-microneedling - can absolutely create visible change. But nothing I offer will give you filtered, flawless skin. Because real skin isn’t meant to look like glass. It has texture. It breathes. It reacts. It tells your story.

That’s something to honour, not hide.

My Promise to You

I don’t post fake before-and-afters.

I won’t filter out the truth.

And I don’t believe your skin needs to be flawless to be worthy.

I show progress not perfection.

I educate instead of exaggerate.

And I’ve created a space where you can leave your inner mean girl at the door and meet your skin with love.

Because that’s how you build real confidence. Not through filters, but through facts.

Let’s Shift the Narrative… Together

• Ask questions: Is this image real? Where’s the context?

• Support businesses that choose ethics over aesthetics

• Celebrate texture, lines and lived-in skin… yours included

• Share this with someone who’s ready to see beyond the filter

Final Thoughts

Tech will keep evolving. But so will we.

At Glo Younger, I’m choosing to grow with integrity. No smoke. No mirrors. Just real skin, real care and real results.

Because the glow that comes from truth?

Now that’s powerful.

Lovingly yours

Renae
